What We’re All About

The best way to describe what we’re all about is to first tell you what we’re not:

WE’RE NOT YOUR TYPICAL FITNESS CLASS. You know the choreographed classes where the instructor stands up front and leads you through a variety of exercises and you either struggle to keep up or get bored with the same routine class after class.

WE’RE NOT YOUR TYPICAL BOOTCAMP, EITHER! No long distance running, no “drill sergeants” screaming in your face. No counting sets and reps.

So…what are we?

GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING is the best way to describe us. As degreed professions in Exercise Science and Kinesiology we pride ourselves in exercise technique and program design. There are no cookie cutter workouts with getFIT. While our workouts may be tough there’s definitely a method behind our madness.

How we train:

Functional Interval Training…what does that mean?

Functional training is when exercises are performed in multiple planes of motion, often with no machine to guide one’s movement . Consequently, we must control, direct and stabilize the mass of our own bodies as well as other objects. This form of exercise is consistent with our activities of daily living (ADLs), which makes it the most logical means of obtaining fitness.

Consider this. As humans, we perform a wide range of movement activities, such as walking, jogging, running, sprinting, jumping, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, turning, standing, starting, stopping, climbing and lunging. For example, think about how frequently we get into the “squat” position in order to acquire the leverage and balance needed to perform everyday tasks. It’s much more often than you would think!

Interval training is simply bursts of high intensity exercise followed by short bouts of rest.

Our bootcamps incorporate this functional interval training in an alternating set or circuit (a term used to describe 4 or more exercises) format that combines the muscle-building benefits of resistance training with the fat-burning benefits of interval training. The result is a killer bootcamp-style workout that will:

  • Boost your metabolism
  • Tone and tighten your entire body
  • Target your trouble areas (abs, hips, thighs and back)
  • Dramatically improve strength, energy levels and performance in every day life.
  • Help you get fit and stay fit!
